Minutes of the September 2, 2018 meeting of the Michiana Bonsai Study

Before doing some (limited) work on our trees John gave us a "tour" of his bonsai collection. This

included a look at the (3) trees that he will exhibit at the Hidden Lake Gardens "Art ofBonsai"

exhibition on September 16. We then proceded to have a drawing to see who would get one of our

2018 giveaway trees. John was the lucky winner. (See the photo by clicking "Trees" on our home page.)

Tree work included some initial work (pruning) on a winter hazel which Larry had purchased from

Bill Valavanis at this spring's Michigan All State show. Soon we were happy to go inside to the air

conditioning on this hot afternoon for some delicious (and, healthy) snacks prepared by John's wife,

Gwen. Conversation included the showing of bonsai at both the Elkhart County Fair and the Indiana

State Fair.
