Minutes of the June 10, 2012 meeting
of the Michiana Bonsai Study
Present: Dave Bechtold, Larry Benjamin, Rose Benjamin, Bruce Kennedy,
Location:
The home of Cheryl Owens,
Refreshments: Beverage, Cheryl Owens; fruit and sweets, Sue Salach
Program: Cheryl demonstrated the initial crafting of both a (windswept)Shimpaku juniper and a
pair of dwarf Alberta spruces. Along the way she gave us some valuable hints. For
example, she has found that rotating feeding solutions applied once every week in the
summer avoids the problem of missing nutrients specifically required by individual
species. In addition, Cheryl had photo albums available for those interested in checking
out some of the sights she witnessed on several of her trips to Japan.
