Minutes of the May 7, 2023 meeting of the Michiana Bonsai Study

The business portion of the meeting began when Larry made some announcements. After reporting the balance in the club
bank account, he told members that there will be an advertisement from the club in this summer's printed ticket folder for the
summer Master Gardeners Garden Tour. Also, he reminded members that there will an election of three club officers at November's
club meeting (the last of the year). This is due to the passage of the revised club charter, now available on the club's website. Finally,
we were reminded of this summer's bonsai events, including the Michiagan All-State Bonsai Show during the next weekend (May 13 / 14)
at Meijer Gardens, GrandRapids, the Fort Wayne Bonsai Show at the Fort Wayne Botanical Conservatory May 20, July's Fort Wayne
club's auction & picnic (where we are invited), and our August activity, the Midwest (Chicago) show at the Chicage Botanic Garden.
During the working portion of the meeting the primary activity was the re-potting of trees, including trees from Bruce Kennedy,
John Deguara, Mary Hesser, Jimmie Lyon, Al Whitfield, Wanda Walker and Terry Mersich. In addition, Kevin Mann defoliated a
Ficus. Throughout the meeting our new guest, Ben Auber, circulated among the busy venue getting to know the members and Larry's
property.
Finally, attendees were invited inside for refreshments, which included veggie and fruit trays and Larry's fudge and lemon bars.
