Minutes of the May 5, 2019 meeting of the Michiana Bonsai Study

Present:    Larry Benjamin, Cassie Eberly, Betty Foltz, Jack Foltz, Kali Hartman, Mary Hesser,

Bob Mortenson, Faye Mortenson, J.D. Nafziger and Wanda Walker

Program:

     This meeting was one blessed with a beautiful day: sunny skies and a high of 70° ! We started

out with some conservation and snacks from Jack & Betty Foltz. During this time we welcomed

two newcomers - Bob & Faye Mortenson - who become our newest members. While Wanda, Mary

and Betty worked on the trees they brought (some Ficus, a Juniper and Mary's American larch

forest), Bob helped Kali Hartman (Larry's 16 year old grand daughter) work on her very first tree:

a Juniper.

     As we worked, Mary reminded us that we could enter trees in the Elkhart County Fair.

Dates and details will be made available later but this would be in the last week of July.

Later, Bob potted up a Forsythia. And, after everyone else had left, Larry took Bob on a hike

through the woods in the back half of his property. (This is always an option when you visit on

a day when the weather permits.)
