Present:     Larry Benjamin, Vicki Boyle, Tori Fehr, Suzanne Gray, Mary Hesser, Kathy Lee, Mary Morgan, Bill Osborne and Norma Osborne,

Cheryl Owens and Sue Salach

Location:     Linton’s Enchanted Gardens, County Road 17, Elkhart

Program:

The meeting began with several orders of business. First, changes to the club's charter passed at the January meeting were passed again. In accordance with the charter, these changes now take effect. (The revised charter can now be reviewed on this website. See the "Club Charter" button on the home page.) Essentially, the changes approved eliminate the office of treasurer and add the treasurer's responsibilities to those of the president. An additional change to the charter was moved and passed. It states, "On the seconded motion by any two members, an independent audit of the club's finances will be taken." This change will also go into effect when passed at the March meeting.

As there were several new potential members present (two of whom, Vicki Boyle and Mary Hesser, became members), Larry reviewed the general schedule of events the club follows. These include outside events in which the club participates. He stressed the special opportunity offered by one such event this year: the 2015 convention of the Mid-America Bonsai Alliance (MABA), July 10 - 12 in Indianapolis. He strongly recommended that members check the website MABA2015.com to keep abreast of the details so that they have a chance to take in this rare chance to enhance their knowledge of the art of bonsai.

The topic of this meeting was the care and maintenance of bonsai. Rather than offer verbage, Larry presented a 20 page booklet he had printed up which gives month-by-month tips on what to do to care for your bonsai. These were excerpts from a column carried in the Fort Wayne Bonsai Club newsletter written by Ed Hake which Larry edited. Copies are now available to members on a first come, first served basis until the supply runs out. (Eight copies remain !)

Finally, we must thank Kathy Lee for the refreshments which she brought to the meeting. They were scrumptous!!! If you would be willing to take a turn and bring refreshments at a future meeting, please email Larry (larben@hughes.net).
